About Dillan
Dillan is a solicitor admitted to practise in both Hong Kong, and England and Wales, and obtained a law degree from the Essex University and from the China University of Political Science and Law. In 2021, he passed the qualifying examination to practise law in the Greater Bay, PRC and in 2022, obtained a practising licence.
Dillan has practised law for over 25 years with more than 15 years senior inhouse legal experiences in various industries and sectors including:-
- media and entertainment technology (Technicolor SA (formerly as Thomson SA) – General Counsel Asia);
- manufacturing/building technology (Johnson Controls Inc. – General Counsel for Asia);
- port and shipping (Hutchison Port Holdings Limited – Senior Counsel), etc.
Dillan spent about 4 years in Shanghai and was engaged by a Fortune 500 company as their Vice President and General Counsel, Asia. He specialises in corporate and commercial law matters including merger and acquisition; joint venture; restructuring; cross-border transactions; technology startups and IP protection; labour and employment related matters, trade disputes and dispute resolution as well as compliance cases.
Dillan regularly renders services to both private and listed companies including providing legal and company secretarial services. He is one of the independent non-executive directors of a public-listed company (HKEX Trading Code: 8333). He is now a consultant lawyer of Messrs. Lee Chan Cheng Solicitors, a Hong Kong medium sized law firm established for over 20 years.
Dillan is active in supporting the start-up community as well as contributing to the growth and development of credentials and entrepreneurship of the young generation to help preparing them in meeting the business world requirements and being vigilant to identify risks and opportunities in conducting business. Dillan has been engaged in the following activities: –
- Mentor under the HKSTP Startup Mentorship Programme from 2023-2025 as well as being a pro-bono legal adviser to startups of HKSTP
- Mentor under the Mentorship Program 2021/2022 and 2022/23 to the startups of Cyberport as well as a member of Cyberport Professional Services Network
- Mentor in career-development for youth members of an NGO
- Guest speaker for the Global Business Program of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
